Accepting, Declining or Revising Your Award

Please accept, decline or revise your financial aid award online through the HUB Student Center, which can be accessed through MyUB.

Grants and scholarships do not require acceptance on the HUB. These dollars will be disbursed to you (or your account) as long as you maintain eligibility to keep this aid.

Your financial aid award will also list other aid options if you are eligible for them (such as work-study). You need to determine if you wish to accept these options.

Direct Stafford Loan Borrowers: If you have not previously received a Direct Subsidized, Direct Unsubsidized, Federal Stafford, Federal Unsubsidized Stafford, or Federal SLS while attending UB, you are required to receive Entrance Counseling information before any loan funds can be disbursed. Also, in order to borrow funds to cover the cost of higher education, the borrower must complete/sign a Promissory Note that outlines the repayment process.

Perkins Loan, Health Professions Loan, or Nursing Loan: If you accept a Perkins Loan, Health Professions Loan, or Nursing Loan, you must complete and return the promissory note you will receive. You must also complete and return the Statement of Rights & Responsibilities/Interview Questionnaire for each loan you accept.

Federal Work-Study: If you are eligible for work-study, you will receive an Appointment Form by mail approximately 10 days prior to the beginning of classes.

Federal Parent Loan: If needed, you may encourage your parent to apply for a Federal Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). The parent listed on the Parent Data Form should fill out an Electronic Master Promissory Note or e-MPN.

Alternative/Private Loans are non-federal loans from an outside source such as a bank or other lending institution. They should only ever be utilized as a last resource after all other federal grant and loan options have been reviewed.

Please remember that you do not have to accept loans if you do not wish to take them or that you can adjust the amount you wish to receive from the loaning agency.

Information subject to change without notice due to changes in federal, state and/or institutional rules and regulations.
