- Economically Disadvantaged First Profession Study Program (EDPS): EDPS is a partial tuition waiver funded by New York State in conjunction with participating educational institutions. This program provides partial tuition waivers to Medical, Dental, Pharmacy and Law students who are pursing graduate or first professional degrees, and who are determined to have exceptional need by the Financial Aid Office.

Loans
Loans are money that you borrow which must be repaid, often with interest. The most common are:
- Health Professions Loan: a low interest (5%) loan for students in health profession fields with financial need. Note: If you are considered independent on the FAFSA, in order to be considered for the Health Professions loan, you will still need to have a parent complete and sign the parental section of the FAFSA. Your eligibility for other funding will still be based on your (and spouse, if applicable) income alone.
- Federal Direct Loans (i.e., Stafford)
- Graduate Plus Loan: a low, fixed interest rate student loan guaranteed by the U.S. Government. The Grad PLUS loan is a non-need credit based loan similar to a private student loan with the benefit of having a fixed interest rate and federal guarantee. Students can borrow up to the cost of attendance less any other aid or loans received.
- Federal Perkins Loans
- Private/Alternative Loans
- Canadian Student Loans: In some instances, Canadian Students may receive aid when attending UB.
