Cost of Attendance

The cost of attendance is made up of direct (tuition and fees) and indirect costs (housing, board, books and supplies, personal and miscellaneous, transportation, and loan origination fee).

Special Circumstances/Appeal Process

As a result of extenuating circumstances, a student’s current financial situation may not be reflected on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). UB will make adjustments to information submitted on the FAFSA form on a student-by-student basis if a determination is made that adjustments are warranted.

Budget Increase

The estimated cost of attendance (budget) used to determine your financial aid eligibility includes tuition and mandatory fees based on your enrollment plans, as well as average amounts for standard educational expenses such as room and board. Also included are books, supplies, local transportation, and miscellaneous expenses. If your actual expenses are higher than the amount used in your current budget or you have other expenses not included in the budget, you may request a budget increase.
